Hey it's me again.
There's an issue that's really been bothering me. I used to rabidly defend the
CP's "all out to defeat Bush" campaign...but now that it's come down
to it, I don't see any point. If we "deafeat" Bush, we've done what?
I don't believe we'll have done anything at all. The United States will still
be the giant imperialistic superpower, and having a non-republican in office
doesn't guarantee that we won't invade some other small country next..in fact,
we may just go after one of the ""Real-Threats"" like the
D.P.R.K. or Cuba, one of those other ""rogue states"" We'll
still have corporations with practically free reign on labor and environmental laws, and the gap between rich and poor won't
be reduced one bit.
I'm having trouble seeing how supporting any candidate running even concerns
us ...

Good questions.
Beating Bush in November would not bring socialism in December. Neither would supporting women's rights, or union struggles, for that matter. (Neither would voting for Nader. Neither would abstaining from the elections)
We will get socialism when the working class is informed and organized enough to overcome the capitalists. Start from there and then try to figure out a good electoral policy.
It's not an easy part of political thinking.
